Lessons from the World Cup

There are some lessons we can learn from this 2010 world cup.

1. United we stand, divided we fall
This was demonstrated by the fall from grace of the French team. They had some stars in their line up, but the whole team was full of discontent. We shouldn't even call it a team.
USA, Japan and New Zealand have shown how teamwork can overcome even the greatest obstacles. NZ finished above Italy in the group standings. USA finished above England in their group. Japan beat Denmark.

2. When you are at the top, there is no way but to go down.
Italy and France were complacent, esp. Italy. As the coach said, they did not prepare well for this campaign. Remember, everyone else will try to topple the champion. Like Tiger Woods. And Singapore - we need to constantly evolve to stay ahead of our neighbours.

3. Being a graceful host
Even though SA are out of running, South Africans still supportive of the other teams.

4. Think BIG
NZ was not overwhelmed by Italy. USA was not overwhelmed by England - the birthplace of football. Think BIG & you can achieve anything.

Flood in Orchard Road

These incidents remind us not to be arrogant; & is a lesson in compassion for other countries. Just a couple of hours' rain caused so much chaos; just imagine if we had non-stop rains for days on end.
